Man jailed 15 months for trespassing into Brunei hospital, causing mischief


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Intermediate Court on Tuesday (Dec 5) sentenced a local man to 15 months’ jail with after he pleaded guilty earlier to trespassing into Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital to cause annoyance and commit mischief by damaging property.

Judge Radin Safiee Radin Mas Basiuni heard from Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus Mohammad that Mohammad Salahuddin Marjik, 43, spent the night at the hospital surau and woke up on Nov 22.

He then went to look for cigarettes when he came across an unlocked door to a room, entered it and took a partially smoked cigarette from an ashtray.

On his way out, he saw a spotlight which he broke to acquire the LED.

He went back to the surau where he was detained by security personnel.

When a maintenance worker discovered the room was broken into, he reported it to the head of security.

A party was dispatched to search for the defendant. He was found at the surau, and a police report was lodged shortly after. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
