BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): A man was jailed three months following his conviction of aggression towards a policeman.

Chief Magistrate Pengiran Norismayanti Pengiran Ismail weighed on the aggravating factors of the case on handing sentence to Mohammad Amiruddin Mohd Jaafar.

The court had found Prosecutor Siti Mu’izzah Sabli’s case against the defendant to have proven beyond the court’s reasonable doubt.

The prosecution’s evidence shows that the policeman stopped the defendant’s car at 9.39am on December 9, 2020.

The defendant had made an illegal U-turn at a cross-junction between Taman Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien and Maya Puri building in the capital.

The policeman demanded to see the defendant’s licence and identity card.

The defendant refused and became verbally aggressive.

A beacon of corporate prestige

He then pushed the policeman while continuing his verbal assault despite the arrival of other policemen.

This led to the defendant’s arrest.

The court reflected on the defendant’s actions undermining the authority of the law which can lead to a breakdown in social order. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
