More than 286,000 people here have been displaced so far by recent fighting between the junta and ethnic groups, the UN said, describing it as the biggest escalation since the 2021 coup.
“Our humanitarian colleagues tell us that intense fighting between ethnic armed organisations and the Myanmar Armed Forces continues and has expanded into more areas, including densely populated urban centres,” said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday.
