Almost a third of Hong Kong’s Japanese restaurants shut their doors permanently this year as the city’s ban on imported seafood from Japan took its toll, on top of a slower than expected recovery in tourism, industry leaders have said.
High-end omakase restaurants offering expensive leave-it-to-the-chef menus with top-quality sushi were said to be hardest hit.
