MANILA (Philippines Daily Inquirer/ANN): Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rains may occur in various parts of the country this coming week, according to the seven-day forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
From Monday (October 30) until Tuesday (October 31), Pagasa said the Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, and Quezon province may have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the combined effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and shear line, or the convergence of warm and cool winds.
The state weather agency also said that in the same period, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region will be mostly cloudy with light rains while Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Ilocos Region will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.
From November 1-3, Pagasa said Quezon, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the combined effects of the shear line and LPA.
Cagayan Valley and Aurora will have mostly cloudy skies with light rains during the same period while the Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and Metro Manila will experience partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains caused by the northeast monsoon, it added.
Pagasa advised the affected population to stay alert as flash floods or landslides are possible in low-lying and mountainous areas due to prolonged rains.
Before that, however, state meteorologists said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may be expected throughout Sunday, October 29, over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora due to the northeast monsoon.
Pagasa also said that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms on Sunday due to the trough or extension of the LPA east of Mindanao – which was moving westward – and localized thunderstorms.
"That LPA is slighlty moving westward. It is currently 1,235 kilometers east of Mindanao and currently the LPA has no direct impact on our country," said Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio. - Philippines Daily Inquirer/ANN
