THOUSANDS of people gathered in southern Philippines to protest Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip in response to deadly cross-border raids by Hamas militants.

Participants waved Palestinian flags, painted their cheeks with the Palestinian colours and shed tears as they prayed.
