Manila court issues e-warrant for arrest of Arnolfo Teves


MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): The Manila Regional Trial Court has issued an e-warrant of arrest against former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves (pic) and three others for the death of Governor Roel Degamo and nine others.

Also covered by the e-warrant of arrest is Angelo Palagtiw, Capt. Lloyd Cruz Garcia II and a certain “Gie Ann,” sister of Angelo.

The Palagtiw siblings served as lookouts during the day of the shooting while Garcia was the pilot-in-command of the helicopter that transported the suspects from Dumaguete to Davao.

In the same order, the Manila RTC Branch 51 also issued a commitment order for Nigel Electona’s transfer from the Manila City Jail to the Metro Manila District Jail in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.

Electona is the chief security officer at the sugar mill compound operated by the HDJ Agri-Venture Corp., in which Teves is reportedly the president. During a raid, authorities seized cache of firearms in the area.

The court has set the arraignment and pre-trial on Oct 4.
