Large haul of narcotics, controlled chemicals seized in central Myanmar


YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar authorities seized a large haul of narcotics and controlled chemicals worth over 2.95 billion kyats (over US$1.4 million) in Mandalay region, according to a release from Myanmar Police Force on Monday (Aug 21).

Acting on a tipoff, the anti-narcotic police searched a house in Chanmyathazi Township on Thursday and confiscated 47 kg of methamphetamine, 120kg of heroin and 2 tonnes of illegally stored controlled chemical caffeine.

On the same day, 9,612,000 stimulant tablets and 270kg of heroin were seized in Chanayethazan Township in the same region.

The suspects were charged under the country's law. Further investigations were underway, it added.
