JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/Asia News Network) Police in South Jakarta have blamed Google Maps for confusing a driver who ended up crashing his truck onto a railway line and causing massive disruption in commuter services connecting Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta and Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) in South Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday (July 25).
Chief of Pesanggrahan Police in South Jakarta Sr. Comr. Tedjo Asmoro said that the truck driver, identified as 51-year-old Edy Sarwono, switched to using Google Maps to find the way to his destination, a convenience store in Bintaro, South Tangerang, shortly after exiting the toll road in Tanah Kusir. Tedjo said that the driver was led by Google Maps to an alleyway too narrow for his oversized vehicle.
