Myanmar's Kawthaung sees record hit rainfall in 76 years, triggers landslide and flood


YANGON (Eleven Media Group/ANN): Myanmar's Kawthaung city has experienced record hit rainfall in 76 years, triggered landslide, flooding and collapsed of houses due to heavy rain and strong wind according to locals and data from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology of Kawthaung.

Kawthaung, which situates in southern part of Myanmar, experienced its heavy rain on July 18 and at the same time, faced strong wind in the sea. It recorded 9.96 inches - 253 mm of rainfall on July 18, the heaviest single day rainfall in 76 years.
