Delay in Thai election result as EC orders recounts

BANGKOK (The Straits Times/Asia News Network): The Election Commission (EC) has ordered a recount of ballots from 47 polling stations, after finding that total vote counts did not match the voter turnout numbers from the May 14 general election, a news source familiar with the matter said on Wednesday (June 7).

Of the 47 stations, 16 have been ordered to recount the ballots for constituency MPs, while 31 stations must recount the ballots for party-list MPs. There was a total of 95,000 polling stations in the May 14 general election.
