Traffic cop shot dead in Mandalay’s Madaya township

YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): A member of Traffic Police Force was shot and killed at his wife’s house in Hsepae village, in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, on Saturday night (May 27), according to local sources.

Sergant Aung Kyaw Myo took on the duty of enforcing traffic rules in downtown of Madaya Township. He was shot while visiting his wife who lived in Hsepae village.

When he visited the house, about 10 men arrived and shot him about eight times. He died on the spot.

Likewise, a Lieutenant police major visiting a house in Pyigyitagon Township, Mandalay Region, was shot dead on Feb 25, local sources said.

About eight people holding guns and knives arrived on three motorbikes at the house between 44th Street and 136th Street in Nyaungbingon Village, Pyigyitagon Township, and committed a robbery at about 7pm.

At the time of the robbery, a younger sister of the house owner and her husband who was a police officer were also there on a visit. The robbers shot him dead after learning that he was a police officer because voices came out of his walkie-talkie in the bag. The police officer died on the spot.

The robbers took 30 million kyats, gold and jewels and the police officer’s bag containing, a gun, bullets and a walkie-talkie and drove away.
