Over 20 foreign workers detained in raids in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 29 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Over 20 foreign workers were detained during a number of immigration raids carried out in Brunei recently.

Several rented houses in Mukim Bangar were targetted in a latest raid by Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) enforcement officers recently.

Seven foreign workers in Pekan Bangar were nabbed for violations while in another raid in Kampong Seri Tanjong Belayang, Mukim Bangar, five foreign workers were detained, one a runaway worker.

Both cases were brought to the Enforcement Division for further investigations.

The INRD also reminded the public that by harbouring immigration offenders, they face a fine of BND3,000 for every immigration offence.

Meanwhile, for foreign workers who violate the immigration rules, their work passes will be cancelled, them repatriated and blacklisted. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
