Take steps to counter El Niño or be ready for economic damage, warns Thai weather expert

BANGKOK, May 28 (The Nation Thailand/ANN): Climate change, especially the El Niño phenomenon, is bound to have an adverse impact on the Thai economy, predicted a climate specialist.

In a Facebook post, Kasetsart University’s professor Witsanu Attavanich said the El Niño phenomenon in 1982-83 and 1997-1998 had brought people’s income down by 5-7.5% in Thailand.
