India provides 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid and disaster relief materials to Myanmar

YANGON, May 23 (Eleven Media Group/ANN): India has provided 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid and disaster relief materials to Myanmar, the Embassy of India in Myanmar has announced.

On May 18, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Shri Vinay Kumar handed over humanitarian aid and natural disaster relief materials to the Chief Minister of Yangon Region under the Compassion Mission Program for Myanmar people who were affected by Cyclone Mocha.

A total of 40 tons of humanitarian aid and disaster relief items including emergency food, rain shelters, portable generators, clothes, water pumps, medicines, tarpaulins, personal healthcare products, wheelchairs and facemasks were loaded and delivered by Indian Navy ships INS Shivalik, INS Kamorta and INS Savitri.

In addition, the fourth Indian Navy ship, INS Gharial, is loaded with humanitarian aid and disaster relief materials, as well as emergency medicine and medical kits and arrived on May 19.

All of these materials will be immediately sent to Rakhine State and distributed to communities affected by the storm, the Indian Embassy announced.
