MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,386 infections of Covid-19 from April 10 to 16, higher than the 1,944 infections recorded the previous week.
According to the DOH’s latest weekly report on Monday (April 17), the spike translates to a daily average of 341, 23 per cent higher than the 278 daily average cases recorded from April 3 to 9 or during Holy Week.
Meanwhile, 17 or 0.72 per cent of the total recorded infections were tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe Covid-19 admissions currently at 356.
Twenty deaths were also added to the country’s death toll. None, however, were recorded in the past two weeks, with all deaths being backlogs reported as early as January 2021.
Meanwhile, the DOH’s online Covid-19 tracker showed that 395 infections were recorded on Monday, which is higher than the daily average from the previous week.
Based on the tracker, the country’s total Covid-19 caseload is currently at 4,086,350, as of April 17, with 4,010,186 recoveries and 66,441 deaths.
Active cases, meanwhile, are currently at 9,723.
