Major drug bust in Brunei - ‘Operasi Jackal’ main suspect charged

BANDAR SERI BGAWAN, April 9 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei Prosecutors recently pressed charges against the main drug syndicate suspect in Narcotics Control Bureau’s ‘Operasi Jackal’ in the Magistrate’s Court.

No plea was taken from Mohammad Mahadi Suhaili, 46, on a charge involving drugs trafficking.

The charge alleges the defendant of abetting by instigation of another person.

It further states that the defendant handed over 426.34 grammes of methylamphetamine crystals to 39-year-old Syahman Md Salleh and instructed him to keep the drug for purposes of trafficking on February 8.

Senior Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana Abdul Rahman also dismissed the defendant’s bail application after hearing grounds of objections from Prosecutor Siti Khalillah binti Hussin.

The court adjourned the case to be mentioned again in two weeks while pending an analysis of the drugs by the Department of Scientific Services. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
