Operasi Jackal main suspect caught


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) apprehended the main suspect in ‘Operasi Jackal’, Mohammad Mahadi Suhaili (pic) during an operation conducted on March 21.

During the operation, Mohammad Mahadi had attempted to escape but was arrested after being surrounded by NCB personnel outside a house in Kampong Lupak Luas, Mukim Lumapas. By Court Order, Mohammad Mahadi has been remanded for investigation under Chapter 27 of the Drug Abuse Act.

To date, Operasi Jackal has arrested seven locals and seized 1,078 kilogrammes of syabu and 182.63 grammes of ganja.

Two of the arrested will be investigated under Section 3A of the Drug Abuse Act, Chapter 27 for possessing controlled drugs for the purpose of distribution of 100 grammes of syabu.

If convicted, the suspects face a death sentence by hanging.
