One killed, 19 injured in Myanmar mine blast


YANGON (Xinhua): One man was killed and 19 others were injured in a mine blast in western Myanmar's Sagaing region on Tuesday (March 28), the Information Team of Myanmar's State Administration Council reported.

The mine explosion occurred at around 9.30am local time near the bus terminal of Shwebo town in Sagaing region, the report said.

The injured included 11 males including two children and eight females who were passing the place on foot, in cars or by motorcycles when the mine exploded, it said.

The victims were sent to the Shwebo hospital, and some of them have since been transferred to the Mandalay hospital, according to the Myanmar Rescue Organisation-Shwebo.

On Tuesday, similar mine blasts causing injuries also occurred in Myingyan of Mandalay region and Tamwe of Yangon region, a police officer said.
