Eleven injured as pirate ship ride collapses at Shwemawdaw Pagoda Festival

YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): Eleven people were injured when a pirate ship ride collapsed at the Shwemawdaw Pagoda festival in the Bago region, according to the chairman of Tugyi Myittashin Aid Organization.

The chairman said the accident took place at the pagoda festival on Sunday (March 26) night and the riders suffered minor injuries.

“The people were waiting for the pirate ship ride when it collapsed. No one sustained serious injuries except for a woman who injured her thighs following the collapse,” said the chairman who added that the victims were sent to the Bago People’s Hospital.
