Myanmar detects 17 new cases of Covid-19's Omicron BA.5, BA.2 subvariants


YANGON, Feb 10 (Xinhua): Myanmar's Ministry of Health this week has reported 17 new cases of Covid-19 Omicron BA.5 and BA.2 subvariants.

The health ministry said they detected the new cases of Omicron subvariants from the people who were tested for Covid-19 on Monday.

The cases included nine cases of Omicron BA.5 subvariant and eight cases of Omicron BA.2 subvariant, the ministry said.

The ministry added that 14 cases of them are imported cases, while three others are local cases.

As of Wednesday (Feb 8), Myanmar recorded a total of 633,850 Covid-19 infections, including 19,490 deaths and 614,321 recoveries, according to the health ministry. - Xinhua
