HONG KONG (AFP): Asian equities were mixed Friday (Feb 3) as the optimism over a possible pause in Federal Reserve interest rate hikes again gave way to worries about the global economy as more than a year of monetary tightening kicks in.
Disappointing earnings from Wall Street titans Apple, Amazon and Alphabet -- who together are worth almost US$5 trillion -- indicated higher borrowing costs and elevated inflation were weighing on consumer demand.
