YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): Plans are underway to reopen Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge No.1 at Myanmar-Thai Border. The bridge was temporarily closed nearly three years ago due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

An unidentified official from the Vehicles Controlled Line said the Myawaddy authorities discussed the reopening of the Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge No.1 with the Thai authorities, and expect the bridge to be reopened soon.

Due to political unrest, two blasts took place near Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge No.1 last year but the damage has been repaired.

Once the bridge is reopened, only licensed vehicles will be allowed along the Mae Sot to Myawaddy township stretch.
