Authorities warn against extreme cold weather in Laos

VIENTIANE, Dec 26 (Laotian Times): The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in Laos has said that the country is likely to experience colder temperatures between Saturday and Jan 1.

According to a notice issued by the department, the cold waves from China will increase and spread throughout all of Laos during this period, causing the temperature to drop by 1 to 3 degrees across the country.

The weather will be cold in the highlands, mountains, and valleys, including the northern provinces, and mountainous regions.

The northern provinces of Laos, including Phongsaly, Xieng Khouang, and Houaphanh will see cold weather with thick fog with temperatures ranging from 7-23 degrees starting Tuesday.

The central provinces, including the capital of Vientiane, will experience temperatures between 16 and 30 degrees with cold weather and fog.

Southern provinces will record cool to chilly weather with thick fog in some areas. The temperature will hover from 12-31 degrees.

Authorities have asked people across the country to be cautious and prepared for extreme temperature changes and cold weather.
