Brunei, Thailand relations lauded

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): Bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Thailand are marked with close cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, defence, health and trade. It has led to Bruneian businesses working with Thai partners for trade and investment expansion as well as exploring new niches.

This was said by Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Boosara Kanchanalai in her welcoming remarks during the reception to mark the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, National Day of Thailand, and Thailand’s Father’s Day at Songket Ballroom, The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Nazmi Mohamad and spouse Datin Binanun Bungsu attended as the guests of honour.

The ambassador also highlighted the keen interest of Bruneians in learning the Thai language, Thai martial arts Muay Thai and enjoying Thai cuisine, which is testament to the strong economic and people-to-people ties that have the potential to be developed for long-term and concrete cooperation in infrastructure, wellness and medical tourism, sports, youth and cultural exchanges.

“With our countries sharing common priorities such as embracing sustainability and digital transformation, I am confident that we can further strengthen our cooperation for the mutual benefits of our two countries and peoples as we are approaching the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, in 2024,” added the ambassador.

The event saw a cake-cutting ceremony by the guests of honour and the Thai ambassador.
