‘Be on guard for Covid during holidays’ season

The Ministry of Health reiterated its call for the public to remain vigilant about Covid-19 infections during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

Or Vandine, ministry spokesman and head of the national Covid-19 vaccination committee, advised people to implement preventive measures and maintain a personal safety distance of at least 1.5m.

“Everyone needs to get vaccinated against Covid-19, with the two basic doses as well as booster shots to strengthen their immune defences in order to protect their community from any public health disasters,” she tweeted on Nov 21.

Prime Minister Hun Sen, who just recovered from a very mild case of Covid-19 on Nov 19, also warned that people need to protect themselves from the virus that he said is still circulating.

According to the health ministry, as of Nov 23 the total number of Covid-19 infections recorded since the start of the pandemic in Cambodia had increased to 138,039 cases – 21,235 of which were imported – and 3,056 deaths.
