Seven killed, 14 injured in road accident in southeastern Myanmar

YANGON (Xinhua): Seven people were killed and 14 others injured in a traffic accident on Sunday (Oct 30) afternoon in southeastern Myanmar's Kayin state, according to the state's police force.

The accident took place near the descending arch of the betel nut farm on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Road, when a Hiace car carrying 21 passengers heading Myawaddy township hit a Hiace car loading food products heading Kawkareik.

The vehicle collision killed seven on the spot, and 14 others were injured. The bodies and injured were sent to Myawaddy General Hospital.

Earlier this month, 11 people were killed and several others were injured after a six-wheeled vehicle overturned on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Road due to brake failure.
