Brunei to see active weather conditions due to typhoon Noru

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept 26 (Xinhua): Typhoon Noru will indirectly affect Brunei's weather and cause windy and active weather conditions in the coming few days, especially from the night of Sunday to Sept 28, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has said.

The BDMD said in its latest forecast that although the sultanate is currently toward the end of the southwest monsoon period, where southwesterly wind surge is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions, squally showers brought by typhoon Noru, heavy at times, are expected to affect many areas of the country.

Wind speed may reach up to 50 km per hour on land and up to 60 km per hour at sea during or near squally showers.

Sea wave height may reach up to 3.0 meters near squally showers.

Local residents are advised to take precautionary actions.

There are risks of falling trees during winds and flash floods, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas and near river banks during heavy rain and high tide. - Xinhua
