Brunei’s weekly Covid number continues to decline

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): Brunei Darussalam continues to register fewer Covid-19 cases where the weekly average dropped to 205 a day last week compared to 283 a day the previous week.

Of the 57,905 antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded to BruHealth in a week, 2.4 per cent are positive.

These were disclosed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar in a press conference on Monday (Aug 29)

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Maswadi Mohsin was also present.

The minister said 178 new cases were reported on Monday (Aug 29) where 177 were from ART results and one from 171 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

There is one case in Category 5 receiving treatment in the intensive care unit and three cases in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and under close monitoring.

Meanwhile, 77.1 per cent of Brunei’s population have received at least three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and 9.4 per cent have been administered the fourth shot.
