Bruneians get a taste of Saudi coffee

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): The public had the privilege of sampling freshly-brewed Saudi coffee following the opening ceremony for the Year of Saudi Coffee 2022 celebration organised by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam at the OneCity Shopping Centre on Tuesday (Aug 16).

Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan Ali Hassan attended the event, which will continue until Aug 17.

Also in attendance were Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Emad Abdul Aziz Saad Al Muhanna, members of the Diplomatic Corps and invited guests.

The Year of Saudi Coffee 2022 is an initiative launched by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, recognising Saudi coffee as a symbol of Saudi culture and hospitality.

Among the objectives of the initiative are to celebrate Saudi coffee as a cultural product of Saudi Arabia, to demonstrate the cultural diversity in the kingdom represented in the different regional methods of preparing and serving coffee, and to emphasise the association of coffee and its culture with Saudi identity based on its distinctive atmosphere, cultivation, preparation.
