BANGKOK (The Nation/Asia News Network): At least 10,000 locals and tourists witnessed a spectacular candle procession to mark the beginning of Buddhist Lent on Wednesday night at Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram in Ubon Ratchathani's Muang district.

The procession commenced on Upparat Road in Nai Muang subdistrict at 7pm and featured a parade of giant wax sculptures of Buddha images and Hindu mythological creatures, with a traditional dance performance and a light and sound acrobatic show by more than 2,000 performers.
