Brunei seeing spike in Covid-19 cases for more than a week


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 19 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei saw a spike in Covid-19 cases yesterday with 659 new infections.

The new cases were detected using antigen rapid tests (ARTs), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 156,452.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) on various platforms yesterday.

Brunei has registered more than 500 daily cases for more than a week.

Some 472 cases were declared recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 152,490 while there are 3,737 active cases.

The ministry said there are two cases in Category 5 needing treatment in intensive care unit and three patients in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination rate for children aged five to 11 is 84.5 per cent with at least one dose and 70.5 per cent with two shots.

The coverage rate of Brunei population with three doses of the vaccine is 72.1 per cent. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
