Brunei records 344 new Covid-19 cases


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): The total number of active Covid-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam stands at 150,402 after 344 new cases were reported. Of these, 338 cases were from antigen rapid tests (ARTs) and six were from 296 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister added that there are no cases in Category 5 requiring treatment at the intensive care unit, while three cases in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and which are under close monitoring.

Meanwhile, 242 cases recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 148,069.

Dato Seria Setia Dr Mohd Isham shared that on Saturday, 241 first doses and 1,263 second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11.

This brings first dose vaccinations administered to the age group to 82.3 per cent and the second dose vaccination to 56.3 per cent.

The coverage rate for the country’s citizens and residents who have received three doses of the vaccine is at 71.1 per cent. The country has 2,110 active cases with 11 cases currently treated in hospitals while 2,099 cases are undergoing home self-isolation.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Maswadi Mohsin was also present at the press conference.
