BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): A joint operation uncovered a massive 269-kilogramme haul of dubious meat and chicken parts in a vehicle parked near a Kampong Mentiri supermarket on Wednesday (May 25).

No halal import permit was produced for the massive haul of meat.

Enforcement officers from the Halal Food Control Division of the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) discovered 200kg of raw meat, 10kg of beef lungs and 59kg of chicken tails.

The RCED confiscated the items for further investigation.

Expressing gratitude for the tip-off, the MoRA said the public can lodge complaints and share information on non-halal meat violations by contacting the Halal Food Control Division hotline at 7166222 or any of its offices in each district.
