Daily new Covid-19 cases in Brunei hit three digits again

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 30 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The number of daily new Covid-19 cases in Brunei rose to three digits with 119 new cases. The number of cases in the country stands at 141,748 up to date as of Friday night (April 29).

Out of the new cases, 93 were from antigen rapid test (ART) results and 23 from 769 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. No COVID-19 fatalities were recorded.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar shared the figures at the daily press conference in the capital.

The minister continued, “There is one Category 5 case requiring treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), and one Category 4 case requiring oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.”

On the latest number of recoveries, Dr Mohd Isham said 136 cases have recovered, bringing the number of recovered cases to 140,711.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases stands at 819, with 14 cases receiving treatment at hospitals and 805 undergoing home self-isolation.

As of Thursday, the minister said 1,397 doses of vaccine had been administered to children aged five to 11, bringing the tally of first-dose vaccinations administered to 20,562 doses, or 47.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, 372 second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered to children, bringing the tally to 963 doses, or 2.2 per cent, while the coverage rate for the country’s population receiving three doses of the vaccine at 65.2 per cent. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
