Meat prices will remain stable over Lao New Year, says top govt official

VIENTIANE, April 11 (Vientiane Times/ANN): There will be enough pork on sale in markets around the city during the Lao New Year celebrations this week and the price of the meat will not rise due to a mismatch in supply and demand, Director of the state-owned Vientiane Food Enterprise Khamla Sengdavong has said.

However, fluctuations in the price of many commodities, especially meat, and the cost of plants used in animal feed is rising across the board and consumers can expect more price increases in the coming weeks, he warned.
