Vietnam reports 15,936 new Covid-19 cases as Hanoi sees another record day of daily infections on Monday (Jan 3)

HANOI, Jan 3 (Vietnam News/ANN):There has been another record rise in daily cases in Hanoi, as total cases reached 15,936 on Monday.

The capital city made up 2,100 of these new cases. This is the highest number in the city since the start of the pandemic.

Among the new cases nationwide, 20 were imported and 15,916 local cases.

Besides the Vietnamese capital Hanoi with 2,100 cases on Monday (Jan 3), it was followed by northern Hai Phong city with 1,749 cases and southern Tay Ninh province with 919 cases.

The infections brought the country's total tally to 1,778,976, with 33,021 deaths, said the ministry.

Nationwide, as many as 1,397,157 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered, up 24,461 from Sunday.
