Recoveries continue to surpass new cases in Brunei, says health minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec 5 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei's Covid-19 recoveries continue to surpass new cases with 71 recovered cases and 22 newly detected ones, while the number of confirmed cases in the Sultanate stands at 15,164.

The figures were provided by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar during the daily press conference in the capital.

The minister said there are 13 additional cases in four existing clusters while seven cases are being investigated to determine the sources of infection.

There was one new cluster involving two cases. The new cluster is the Nur Jamila Construction Staff House Cluster.

Five clusters – Cluster 13387, Cluster 13461, Pakiza Staff House Cluster, Cluster 13379 and Cluster 13392 – were declared closed following no new infections in 28 days. With that, the number of active clusters is 118.

With 71 recoveries, the number of recovered cases in Brunei is 14,718 against 346 active cases.

One case is in Category 5 is receiving treatment at the intensive care unit, requiring artificial ventilation and heart-lung machine (ECMO) while one case is in Category 4.

In the past 24 hours, 2,239 samples were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 633,714. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
