Philippine troops kill new leader of Islamic State-linked group

JAKARTA, Dec 4 (dpa): The new leader of an Islamic State-linked terrorist group and four of his men were killed in a firefight with government troops in the southern Philippines, the military had announced on Friday (Dec 3).

The clash erupted on Thursday in the town of Mamasapano in Maguindanao province, 960 kilometres south of Manila, said Major General Juvymax Uy, an army infantry division commander.
