BRUNEI (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): Brunei Darussalam recorded 211 new local Covid-19 and one imported cases, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 12,113.
This was said by Minister of Health Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.
The import case arrived from Russia via Singapore on board Singapore Airlines SQ148 on Oct 15.
Five new clusters were detected involving 31 cases. All new clusters are accommodation clusters with two – TSL Construction Staffhouse Cluster and Traine Aire Sdn Bhd Cluster – being in staff housing.
“There are 97 additional cases to 16 existing clusters,” said the minister.
“Six clusters – Cluster 3016, Cluster 3788, Cluster 4360, Cluster 5673, Cluster 5677 and Little Audrey Cluster – are declared closed following no new cases for 28 days, bringing the total active clusters to 166.
“Some 83 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection. A total of 240 cases recovered today, bringing the number of recoveries to 9,608 and active cases to 2,424,” said the minister.
Mohd Isham said six cases were in Category 5 and being treated in the intensive care unit with all requiring artificial ventilation and three cases requiring the help of additional heart/lung machines.
Seventeen cases were categorised in Category 4, requiring oxygen assistance and close monitoring.
“In the past 24 hours, 4,944 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 473,531,” added the minister.
