Brunei police bust meat smuggling attempt

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) seized a massive haul of 256 packs of chicken frankfurters, six boxes of chicken parts, three boxes of beef and eight boxes of beef lungs at Jalan Labu, near the junction of Kampong Tanjong Bungar in Temburong District.

hree local men, aged 36 to 42, were detained in connection with the smuggling activity on Thursday (Oct 14) night.

The attempted smuggling was busted around 6.29pm during surveillance set up by Bangar Police Station.

The contraband was found inside a vehicle. The seized items and the three suspects were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) for further investigation.

The suspects are currently under two-week quarantine at Berakas Games Village before investigation resumes.
