Vietnam's Covid-19 issues under control as govt reports 3,797 new Covid-19 cases - 857,639 in total on Saturday (Oct 15)

HANOI, Oct. 15 (Xinhua): Vietnam reported 3,797 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, including 3,789 locally transmitted and eight imported, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,131 in Ho Chi Minh City, 586 in Dong Nai province, and 533 in Binh Duong province.

The new infections brought the country's total tally to 857,639, with 21,043 deaths, the ministry said.

Nationwide, as many as 788,923 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered, while over 59 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered, according to the ministry.

As of Friday, Vietnam has registered a total of 852,986 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said.

It was also announced on Friday that 918 patients have fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 788,923.

Of the 3,847 Covid-19 patients being treated in hospital at the moment, 21 are on life support (ECMO).

More than 59 million doses of vaccines have been administered so far in Vietnam. - Xinhua
