The United States gained a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council on Thursday (Oct 14) paving the way for further confrontation expected between Washington and Beijing over governance, values and their competing visions for the global order.
Washington received 168 votes out of a possible 193 at the UN General Assembly to serve on the council, based in Geneva.
