Brunei health minister says that people in country must learn to live with Covid-19

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug 16 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Covid-19 is all over the world and it will not disappear and “we have to live with it”, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham Jaafar.

“It is in the population just like H1N1. Covid-19 virus is contagious and we need to counter it by intensifying our vaccination capacity,” the minister said, adding that the Ministry of Health (MoH) is aiming to vaccinate 10,000 people a day.

The minister was responding to a question at a press conference yesterday about some countries having declared COVID-19 endemic and not a pandemic.

"Hence, they have adopted endemic road map. If 70-80 per cent of the population is vaccinated, it helps our healthcare system,” the minister said.

When asked about people using phones with no BruHealth app getting caught in roadblocks, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said those with Android or iOS phone can add family members and domestic helpers to the BruHealth app.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has set up roadblocks to check the public’s BruHealth status since Saturday (Aug 16).

Those found with red codes are immediately fined. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
