Cambodia Covid-19 cases keeps rising as Delta variant cases in most part of the kingdom

PHNOM PENH, Aug. 14 (Xinhua): Cambodia on Saturday reported a daily record of 598 Covid-19 cases, in which 187 were imported, pushing the national total caseload to 84,860, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Twelve more fatalities had been registered, taking the overall death toll to 1,666, the MoH said, adding that 682 other patients had recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 79,654.

The Ministry of Health also announced that another 65 cases of the coronavirus Delta variant were detected in Cambodia from August 11-13, reaching 22 of the Kingdom’s 25 capital and provinces and bringing the total to 494.

Among the latest 65 cases were 36 community transmissions, 17 migrant workers, four airline passengers, four medical workers and four civil servants.

“From March 31 to Aug 13, Cambodia has recorded 494 Delta cases on migrant workers returning from Vietnam and Thailand, airline passengers, civil servants, medical workers and the locals.

“It had reached 22 capital and provinces, except Kep, Takeo and Kratie,” the ministry said.
