A former Chinese health minister has criticised suggestions by some experts in China – including its leading epidemiologist – that the country needs to learn how to live with the novel coronavirus, yet another sign that Beijing will stick to its harsh zero Covid-19 strategy.
Gao Qiang, who served as health minister from 2005-2007, wrote a strongly-worded rejection of the laissez-faire approach to the pandemic, blasting the countries who are following it for “recklessly removing or relaxing epidemic control measures”.
