Over 30 per cent in Brunei vaccinated against Covid-19


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): As of Aug 2, 137,345 individuals or 30.3 per cent of Brunei population had received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while 31,680 (seven per cent) received both jabs.

On Aug 2, 3,866 individuals were vaccinated under the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme.

These were highlighted in a statement from the Ministry of Health (MoH) in its daily update.

Brunei Darussalam recorded one new imported Covid-19 case yesterday raising the national tally of confirmed cases to 339.

Case 339 is a 26-year-old woman who arrived from Manila on July 21 and showed no signs of infections. Contact tracing found no close contacts.

With one recovery, 52 active cases are receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre in Tutong District. They are in stable condition.

The country recorded no local transmissions of the virus for 454 days.

Some 530 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres after arriving from abroad while 22,958 have completed their stint since March 2020.

The MoH obtained 338 samples for testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past 24 hours and carried out 154,142 tests since January 2020.

In its breakdown of Covid-19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that there have been 304 cases in Brunei-Muara District, 29 in Belait District and six in Tutong District.
