PHNOM PENH, July 25 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): Officers from the Ministry of Interior’s anti-drug department arrested five Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects and seized 156kg of drugs in the capital’s Chbar Ampov district earlier this week.
In a report released on July 24, the department said officers raided a house in Borey Peng Huot Boeung Snor gated community in the district’s Nirouth commune where the suspects used to store and process drugs.
The police arrested a 52-year-old Cambodian man and four Vietnamese nationals, two of them women.
During the raid, they seized a total of 156kg of drugs including more than 101kg of ecstasy (MDMA), over 39kg of cathinone, more than 14kg of methamphetamine better known as ICE, over 112g of ketamine, and some other substance.
Separately, the department also cracked down on another drug trafficking case in the capital’s Russey Keo and Sen Sok districts on July 20, seizing more than 50kg of drugs.
According to the National Police website, a force led by the anti-drug department’s deputy director In Song, in cooperation with Phnom Penh municipal police and municipal court prosecutor, had investigated and raided four different locations in the two districts.
They arrested two Cambodian suspects and seized more than 30kg of methamphetamine and over 19kg of ketamine. - Phnom Penh Post/ANN
