BANGKOK, July 9 (Bloomberg): Thailand announced a set of tighter virus containment measures, including a ban on gatherings of more than five people and non-essential travel, and a night curfew to quell a worsening Covid-19 outbreak.

The measures, which also include shuttering of spas and beauty clinics, will cover the Bangkok metropolitan area and four southern provinces with a high number of infections, according to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration. While the mobility restrictions will be effective from Saturday, the work-from-home orders and closures of non-essential businesses and limit on gatherings will begin on Monday.
