Elephants on tour in China guzzle crops and wreak havoc

The elephants walked along a street under the dim road lights, with their huge bodies almost blocking the whole street, a video clip People's Daily uploaded on Weibo showed on May 28. The clip got more than 2.5 million views within five hours.

BEIJING (AFP): A herd of 15 wandering elephants on an epic trek through southwestern China have entered villages to gorge on crops, broken into barns and caused a million dollars of losses.

Over the past week, the animals drained a water tank, helped themselves to a corn field, and guzzled supplies after crashing into a barn, state broadcaster CCTV said.
